WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TOUR?
– Pick up in Costa Maya
You will be picked up just outside of the Costa Maya cruise ship terminal, please follow instructions.
We will drive for about 50 minutes to the archeological site of Chacchoben. There, you’ll take a tour leaded by a professional guide that lasts 1.5 hours. We will walk in the jungle to explore and learn about the different structures of the mayan site such as: Temple 24, Plaza B, Gran Plaza, Gran Basamento, Los Gemelos, Las Vasijas and Templo Uno.
This excursion also offers the possibility to learn about local plants and observe some species of local fauna, including birds and spider monkeys.

After a 40 minute road trip, our next stop is the secret treasure of southern Mexico, the beautiful Bacalar Lagoon!
The first glimpse you’ll have of this beautiful lagoon is at our marina, where we will meet your boat guide, who will be in charge of your tour from that moment on.
The first place to visit in the Bacalar Lagoon is “Cenote Esmeralda”, where you’ll be amazed by the different shades of blue and understand why the Bacalar Lagoon is frequently referred as the 7 colors lagoon. Our next stop is “Cenote Cocalitos”, home of stromatolites, that are known as living stones and are considered the oldest form of life in the planet.
The third point to enjoy will be “Black Cenote” which is an open sky cenote and also the deepest point of the lagoon.
The final spot to explore is the Pirate Channel, as you’ll be explained, pirates used to enter Bacalar by using this channel to steal local precious wood.
This spot is not deep and is ideal for swimming in the fresh water of Bacalar, you’ll also have a beautiful view of the different shades of blue of the Lagoon
– Lunch
After we are done with our boat tour, we will take you to an authentic mexican restaurant to enjoy delicious sea food tacos for lunch (3 tacos per person).
Finally we will take you back to port Costa Maya on a ride of about 60 minutes.
– Return to Mahahual

Payment: In order to book you will only have to pay a security deposit of $20 USD of the cost of the excursion, the remaining balance MUST BE PAID IN CASH at check-in the day of your activity.
Start time: This excursion is especially planned to meet cruise ship schedules so meeting time mainly depends on your ship’s time of arrival, we generally give 30 to 40 minutes to get to our meeting point once the ship has docked and has opened the doors for people to get off. Your driver and guide will be waiting for you with a sign with the logo of Chac Ek Costa Maya.

CANCELLATION POLICY
The payment is fully refundable if for some reason the cruise ship does not dock at all in port Costa Maya.
If you cancel at least 7 day(s) in advance of the scheduled departure, there is no cancellation fee. Cancelling between 3 and 6 day(s) in advance of the scheduled departure, there is a 50 percent cancellation fee. In case of cancellation within 2 day(s) of the scheduled departure, there is a 100 percent cancellation fee.
